Location: Duxford
Contract: 18-month fixed term contract
Shift: 40 hours, weekly rotations (6am - 2pm, 2pm - 10pm, Monday to Friday)
Huntsman Advanced Materials is looking for a Quality Control (QC) Chemist to join our manufacturing site in Duxford on an 18-month fixed term contract. This role is perfect for someone with a strong background in laboratory analysis who enjoys problem-solving and working in a dynamic environment. You'll play a key role in maintaining our high-quality standards by leading method development, supporting production with non-routine testing, and ensuring our laboratory equipment is well maintained.
What You'll Do
As a QC Chemist you will:
1. Develop and validate new test methods, writing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
2. Support Process Development with non-routine test requirements for new product introductions (NPI).
3. Lead test method improvement projects and update key test SOPs.
4. Manage Gauge R&R and round-robin testing, leading test Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) where required.
5. Conduct product qualification test programmes for new products and requalification's to meet customer requirements.
6. Maintain stock levels of lab consumables and chemicals.
7. Support in-process and final product testing according to designated methods and procedures.
8. Manage the calibration and maintenance of laboratory testing equipment.
9. Lead root cause analysis (RCA) investigations into quality events and non-conformance issues.
10. Provide expert advice to the manufacturing plant for in-process failures.
11. Lead quality inspections, confirmations, and audits of the production plant.
12. Provide a level of holiday cover for the Quality Lab as needed.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for a detail-oriented and proactive team player with a strong background in laboratory science and quality control. You should have:
1. Degree in Science, Chemistry, or equivalent, or a BTEC/NVQ 3/HND in Laboratory Science or equivalent.
2. Significant experience in a laboratory environment.
3. Strong knowledge of quality control processes.
4. Experience with adhesive or composite systems (advantageous).
5. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
6. Strong organisational and time management skills.
7. IT proficiency, including experience with LIMS, SAP, and OEM software.
8. Excellent numeracy and literacy skills.
9. Strong problem-solving ability and performance-focused mindset.
