Primary Function Reporting to the Financial Controller, this role will cover all areas of financial accounting and support the delivery of management accounts as well as financial statements for the organisation whilst also managing the end-to-end payroll process for HQ, branches and elected officials. Key Responsibilities Financial Reporting: Prepare management accounts, including balance sheet and income statement. Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Payroll administration and reporting: Collaborate with the HR department to ensure accurate processing of payroll for over 200 staff using IRIS EARNIE payroll software. Posting subsequent journals and reporting. Assist in reconciling payroll reports and resolving discrepancies. Administering employee pension plans. Knowledge of statutory legislation relating to PAYE, National Insurance, Statutory payments and Pensions Accounting and Bookkeeping: Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, receivables, accruals/prepayments, revenue recognition. Ensure accurate and timely posting of financial transactions. Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts. Team Collaboration and Development: Work collaboratively with the finance team and other departments. Provide training and support to junior finance staff. Fixed Asset Registers: Maintain complete and accurate fixed asset registers. Compliance and Audit Support: Assist in maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies. Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and explanations as needed. Support in preparation and submission of quarterly VAT returns. Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve efficiency, and enhance controls within the finance function. Implement best practices to optimize financial operations.
