Job Description
We're seeking an experienced and highly organized Warehouse Shift Manager to join our team. This critical role involves overseeing all aspects of warehouse operations during assigned shifts. It also includes supervising staff, coordinating inventory movements, maintaining compliance with company policies, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and safety in our processes. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and a passion for continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
1. Oversee daily warehouse operations during assigned shifts.
2. Manage and support warehouse staff, ensuring productivity and efficiency.
3. Assign tasks and monitor performance to meet operational goals.
4. Ensure proper shift handovers and communication between shifts.
5. Complete Return to Work and Bradford Factor meetings.
6. Complete investigations and participate in the disciplinary process.
7. Complete full induction for all new personnel including agency staff ensuring fully conversant with warehouse processes and procedures.
8. Complete staff probationary reviews.
Inventory & Logistics Coordination:
1. Ensure accurate receiving, storage, and dispatch of goods.
2. Monitor stock levels and report discrepancies.
3. Work with inventory control teams to minimize losses and damages.
Compliance & Safety:
1. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
2. Conduct safety checks and enforce proper use of equipment.
3. Address workplace hazards and incidents promptly.
4. Conduct weekly inspection in line with BRC requirement.
5. Ensure processes are robust and adhered to at all times.
6. Ensure workforce are compliant with warehouse KPI targets.
Team Leadership & Development:
1. Train and mentor warehouse employees.
2. Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback.
3. Manage shift staffing levels, including scheduling and absence management.
Process Improvement:
1. Identify and implement ways to optimize warehouse operations.
2. Utilise warehouse management systems (WMS) for efficiency.
3. Work with management to improve workflows and reduce costs.
Qualifications & Experience
1. Experience: 2 years of warehouse operations experience with proven leadership in inventory management and end-of-year stock takes.
2. Skills: Proficient in MS Office, inventory software, and modern warehousing practices.
3. Certifications: Current forklift license (desirable but not essential).
4. Education: GCSE-level or equivalent in English and Maths.
