Job Description Job Title: Naval Reactor Plant Fluid Systems Operations Section Leader Working Pattern: 37 hours days Working location: Derby An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Naval Reactor Plant (NRP) Fluid Systems Operations Section Leader to join our Services Systems department at Rolls-Royce Submarines (RRSL) in Derby. The Operations Section reports to the Fluid Systems Group Leader and works closely with the Ministry of Defence (MOD) customer and UK Royal Navy to support the delivery of the suite of documents that define how the NRP will be operated during commissioning and through-life. As well as this key area of scope, the Operations Section Leader will also be involved in leading a team of engineers to support maintaining the design intent and safety case through-life. This will involve: Responsibility for defined technical packages of work providing leadership and delivery against customer programme milestones with agreed costs, timescales, and quality requirements. Managing the Fluid Systems Operations Section workload and supporting the development of the engineers within the team. Ensuring process adherence and appropriate governance is applied to all design led activities. Creating and sustaining positive working relationships with the customer and key stakeholders. Resolving problems through evaluative judgements and through application and understanding of standard methods and processes. Analysing factual information from multiple sources, interpreting results, and identifying effective solutions by applying their own technical knowledge, expertise, and engineering judgement. Actively encouraging and supporting the identification and implementation of continuous improvement opportunities. Knowledge of NRP Fluid Systems and Pressurised Water Reactor (PWR) operating philosophy is highly desirable. Proactive, persistent and customer focused with a high level of self-motivation and initiative, and able to stand-alone. Proven ability to meet required quality, cost, and delivery expectations. An ability to apply logical, analytical, and innovative thinking and decision making on a range of technical problems. Effective interpersonal, communication and coaching skills essential for liaising with peers and supervision.
