Additional Information:
Your role will be to apply manufacturing engineering techniques to a range of diverse machining projects on components, up to 400t, going through the machine shops. You will provide technical leadership in manufacturing methods and will own products, processes and plant that will deliver highly regulated components safely, on cost and delivery to our customer's needs. You will work in a matrix structure with teams across quality, H&S and production to deliver your role.
Purpose of the Job:
You will own the complete manufacturing route through the machine shops, from goods inward to release. You will apply new process introduction principles and continuous improvement (CI) philosophies, such as six sigma, to enhance performance. You will support the safe operation of the machine shops through a 2-shift rota, base in our Engineering Hubs at the heart of our shop floor.
Main Responsibilities:
You will be responsible for applying the latest manufacturing techniques and systems to deliver components through our machine shops. You will be the technical authority for the manufacturing routing, programming and quality conformance throughout the components manufacturing lifecycle, ensuring that the optimum process and procedures are applied to deliver to cost and quality. You will be responsible for the components and equipment utilised to deliver our customers requirements.
The scope of the job:
* Own value streams, equipment and component machining processes that are aligned to business needs. Example: customer, multi axis machines and pressure vessels.
* Apply lean manufacturing techniques to deliver and improve operations. Own the NPI and CI for highly regulated components manufacture.
* Provide machining advice, product and/or process knowledge to matrix functions such as quality.
* Accountability for the delivery of our components through the machine shops, ensuring appropriate communication with the machinist to maintain delivery, quality and cost adherence.
* Produce proposed method of manufacture for review when leading PFMEA's meetings.
* Produce and issue SWI/SOP/SMP of step-by-step machining sequence of components through the relevant machining processes to optimise production in support of the production verification engineers.
* Create/log and issue tooling sheets/information to tooling department (TP32/shop docs). Update ERP systems (E10) regarding Engineering support documentation.
* Produce 3D models/metric manufacturing drawings of components, including stage models using Siemens NX.
* Interrogate and verify customer supplied CAD Models.
* Controlling manufacturing drawings and models.
* Producing both Milling and Turning programmes using Siemens NX and verify on Vericut Software.
* Control and issue of Manufacturing CNC programs to machine shops. Creation of job process / Route Cards. Produce and maintain cad models and drawing of shop floor equipment.
* Log and register shop floor equipment.
* In house development work, including Concepts.
* Expectation to attend meeting as required.
* This role will be hybrid working across both the office and shopfloor. Any other duties commensurate with this role.
