As a Youth Support Worker, you will join The Lancashire Young People supported accommodation services that supports 18 young people (Aged 16-21) across two locations in Chorley – Parker House and The Bridge – who are threatened with homelessness, leaving care, looked after children, or young people at risk.
Role Responsibility
As a Youth Support Worker, you will have knowledge and experience of working with young people with complex needs, homelessness, children who are looked after, and in transition to leaving care or care leavers who struggle to maintain a tenancy as a result of complex and unmet needs. You will support young people to maximize their benefits, gain independent living skills, promote independence, health, wellbeing, and healthy lifestyle choices, as well as support them to maximize their involvement in local training, education, and employment opportunities.
The Ideal Candidate
We’re ideally looking for a Youth Support Worker with an NVQ 3/experience/qualification in Youth/Social work, as well as a solid understanding of homelessness and its impact on the wellbeing of young people. You will have experience in support planning, re-engaging, and motivating young people to participate in employment and work programmes, education, training, volunteering, and skill-building opportunities. As a Youth Support Worker, the hours of work are flexible to the service needs and include some evening and weekend working. You will be expected to prioritize your own caseload and use your initiative to plan and implement agreed actions to meet set deadlines.
As a great team player with lots of energy, you’ll need strong communication skills, a flexible approach, and a positive attitude to achieve targets in a challenging environment that requires empathy, understanding, and patience.
