Job Summary
London Central & West UCC are looking for a Head of Quality, Patient Safety and Experience to join their expanding team. In this new role, you will be responsible for leading a team to deliver clinical governance, quality and patient safety across the different services in the organisation.
The postholder will work closely with operational and clinical teams to build on LCWs clinical excellence through effective quality improvement. Supporting the registered manager and nominated individual, the Head of Quality, Patient Safety and Experience will lead on all activities relating to patient safety, showing core knowledge in delivering excellence in healthcare and be passionate about driving forward the quality and governance agenda in delivering safe care and a positive patient experience.
Main Duties of the Job
The Head of Quality, Patient Safety and Experience will have operational and organisational management of the Quality Management System (QMS), including the responsibility for the development and implementation of the Quality, Governance and Safety strategies across all services and locations that LCW manages. The post holder will be expected to provide visible and effective leadership for clinical risk management and quality assurance across the organisation, as well as the day-to-day management of the Governance, Quality and Patient Safety Team.
Within this role, the post provides support to the executive team in understanding the risks and those which require escalation to the board. In addition, the post holder will be responsible for the oversight of the implementation of CQC recommendations and monitoring the delivery of improvement plans.
The post holder should hold extensive experience and knowledge of governance, regulation, quality improvement, patient safety and audits, as well as the understanding and practical application of UK Public Sector Regulatory Compliance and Corporate Governance. Experience of leading, managing and motivating staff to achieve excellent results is required.

Job Responsibilities
* Provide visible and effective leadership for clinical risk management and quality assurance across the LCW.
* Ensure that the organisation has robust assurance processes in place for undertaking self-assessments and evidence collection in line with all compliance requirements.
* Lead on the identification of areas requiring improvement to reach an acceptable level and to advise relevant leadership teams accordingly.
* Accountable for the development and implementation of a compliance framework, ensuring that the organisation is achieving the standards required for CQC registration.
* Ensure systems and processes are in place to respond to Care Quality Commission information and inspection requests.
* Oversight of the implementation of CQC recommendations and monitor delivery of improvement plans.
* Ensure that risk assessments are applied systematically across the organisation and that the organisation can be assessed against the regulations.
Person Specification
Knowledge
Essential
* Extensive knowledge and experience of governance, regulation, quality improvement, patient safety and audit.
* Significant knowledge of clinical effectiveness and corporate governance and its application.
* Knowledge, understanding, practical application of UK Public Sector Regulatory Compliance and Corporate Governance.
Experience
Essential
* Experience of Quality Management systems in the UK healthcare environment.
* Experience of the relevant regulatory systems and compliance, including CQC etc.
* Experience of incident and complaints management.
* Experience of managing Committees reporting to the Board.
Qualifications
Essential
* Educated to Degree level, or equivalent experience.
Desirable
* Post-graduate qualification such as Masters Leadership / Management training or Corporate Governance (e.g. CGIUKI).
