GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive secondary school in Totton. This role is perfect for individuals with previous SEN experience, including those from a care background who are passionate about making a positive impact on young lives. As an SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), you will play a key role in helping students overcome challenges and thrive in their educational journey. You will work closely with teaching staff to deliver tailored support to students, both on a one-to-one basis and in small group settings. Your role will involve promoting inclusion, building positive relationships, and assisting students in developing their social and academic skills. Responsibilities of a Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant: Provide dedicated support to students with Autism and Learning Difficulties, ensuring their individual needs are met. Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour support plans. Support students in both one-to-one and small group settings, fostering their independence and self-confidence. Work collaboratively with teaching staff to deliver a tailored curriculum and manage behaviour effectively. Assist in creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment. Monitor and report on student progress, ensuring clear communication with staff and parents. SEN TA Requirements: Previous experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant or working with children with special educational needs. Experience in supporting students with Autism and Learning Difficulties is highly desirable. A degree in Psychology, counselling, education or a similar field. CACHE Level 2/3 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Teaching Assistant or childcare is beneficial but not mandatory. A background in care or support work with transferable skills will be considered. Strong communication skills with the ability to build rapport with students and staff. A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting young people.
