In this role, you will be an integral part of the Operations Design team, providing essential design ideas, 3D models, assembly drawings, and component details using 2D & 3D CAD software.
You will drive multiple projects, taking solutions from concept design through to production and installation. The equipment may have to meet exhibition as well as food industry standards. The ideal candidate must be an excellent communicator with sound awareness of commercial factors, as well as having excellent mechanical and electrical design skills, preferably with an engineering-related degree.
Having experience of industrial machinery design using 3D CAD software (Autodesk Inventor preferred) is advantageous. You should be self-motivated with the ability to work alone, whilst ensuring great liaison and teamwork with colleagues, suppliers, and other key stakeholders. The role is initially for 6 months and may be extended with one month's notice.
In this role, a typical day will look like:
1. Designing mechanical integration solutions for the Videojet range of products.
2. Preparing assembly models, detailed component drawings, and installation schematics for engineering projects.
3. Working closely with cross-department originators (e.g., Sales engineers, Workshop operatives) to resolve design details or discrepancies, or to prepare concepts of unusual, complex, or original designs using CAD (Computer Aided Drafting) or CAE (Computer Aided Engineering) equipment.
4. Identifying suitable suppliers for special parts.
5. Producing BOMs on our SAP business system, ensuring that projects are delivered within budget, to the right quality, and on-time.
The essential requirements of the job include:
1. Engineering Degree or equivalent experience.
2. Competent in the use of 2D and 3D design software.
3. Experience of mechanical and electrical design.
4. Competent using Microsoft Office packages.
5. A high level of commercial awareness.
6. Excellent communication skills.
