The Role As the Senior Project Accountant, you will play a critical role in managing financial performance and ensuring robust project accounting processes. Reporting directly to the Finance Director, you'll take ownership of financial controls and reporting, delivering accurate insights to drive key business decisions. Key Responsibilities: Oversee annual budgets and quarterly forecasting, introducing rolling forecasts to support strategic planning. Prepare and consolidate monthly management and project accounts, managing multiple P&Ls (UK, US, and India). Produce detailed Operational Board reports to guide executive leadership. Enhance financial databases and streamline project accounting systems for optimal performance. Lead monthly WIP meetings, providing in-depth analysis and insights into project costs and progress. Manage and mentor a team of three finance professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and development. Work collaboratively across departments, influencing best practices and driving strategic initiatives. Ideal Candidate This role is designed for a financial professional with a strong understanding of project accounting, adept at working in complex and fast-paced environments. The ideal candidate may come from one of the following backgrounds: Consultancy: Experienced as a project accountant within a consultancy or similar project-focused business, understanding the nuances of client-driven, multi-project environments. Engineering or R&D: Worked within the R&D or engineering division of a larger organisation, comfortable with handling the financial complexities of innovation-focused projects. Dynamic Industries: Familiarity with time-based or chargeable businesses, ideally in sectors such as automotive, aerospace, or similar. Key Qualifications & Skills: Professional qualifications: CIMA Qualified/Part-Qualified/QBE. Expertise in project accounting within consultancy, R&D, or engineering sectors. Exceptional Excel skills (advanced functions, VBA); experience with SQL and Sage 200 is desirable. Confidence and diplomacy in liaising with senior stakeholders, including the CEO and MD. Commercial acumen to navigate regulatory frameworks while supporting business goals. Strong analytical skills to integrate diverse data sources, ensuring precise and actionable financial insights.
