Product Design Marine Engineer (Principle)
Location: Bath/Bristol/Plymouth/Fareham/Hybrid
Contract: 6-12 months FTC

About The Role
* You will be a highly skilled and experienced technical leader, acting in a technical assurance capacity and helping to support the development of opportunities and our client’s Shipping Capability within the UK and beyond.
* You will act as the professional lead for the Production Engineering Capability within the Commercial Shipping area of the business, primarily related to ship structures and construction.
* You will be involved in every stage of the design process of various types of specialized lightweight vessels, with the opportunity to influence designs and team processes to improve designs, build quality, and team efficiency.
* Your day-to-day work will include technical project leadership, technical bid development, quality assurance of construction and outfit drawings, 3D vessel models, production deliveries, and bids.
* You will engage in customer interaction and business development activities.
Candidate Requirements
* Candidates will be registered as a Chartered Engineer with an appropriate professional body or be able to demonstrate the ability to achieve Chartered status in the short term.
* You will have demonstrable experience of working in the maritime domain, specifically in ship structural Production Engineering/Detailed Design.
* Experience with different hull form types of vessels, various construction materials, optimizing design for buildability, weight reduction, operation, whole vessel design, and various Classification/Code/Flag regulations is fundamental to the role. Understanding ship/shipyard construction methods, particularly with aluminum vessels (typically 15-70m length), is essential.
* You will have knowledge/skills in 2D and 3D CAD software and be able to produce and quality assure both CAD and drawing outputs.
* You will possess the ability to communicate and act with integrity at all levels of the business and with customers, promoting a lessons-learned culture and contributing to business success through considered decision-making and influencing the employee engagement agenda.
* Leading the development of others, promoting respect, trust, openness, well-being and safety, collaboration, and recognizing our people and teams is key to maintaining our culture.
* Experience or an understanding of working across the entire platform lifecycle, from concept development through to in-service support and disposal, is desirable.

Most people within the Capability teams are based in the Fareham area; however, the capability is part of the UK and Europe region so a balance of in-office, remote, and hybrid working will be considered (other offices are in Glasgow, Plymouth, Bristol, and Bath).
Travel to our client offices and customer sites will be necessary as required (occasional overseas travel may be needed). This is a full-time predominantly earning role.
