Main duties of the job To have responsibility for coordinating the shift in the 'Silver' nursing role. This includes managing the flow of patients through the department and acting as an expert resource for the nursing team. They will work closely with the Clinical Band 7 on duty in supporting the team in the delivery of safe, evidence based and effective care. They will liaise regularly throughout the shift with the 'Silver' Doctor and ambulance personnel, to discuss all patients and to ensure all clinical plans are appropriate and in place The post holder will adopt a highly visible accessible approach for patients, their carers, and relatives, and all staff within the MDT alike. They will lead by example and help to empower staff in their personal and professional development. The post holder will be expected to work closely with the medical team and other agencies, including SWASFT to ensure patient safety and prompt and appropriate care is given. The post holder will be expected to be innovative with ways of working, and will strive to offer ideas which will develop the service and which best fit the demands made upon the department, and will be encouraged and supported to challenge working practices in order to become as efficient as possible.
