Job Title: Senior Commercial Officer

The Senior Commercial Officer will be part of the Maritime Services Warship Support Commercial team. Working closely with the project delivery teams in a multi-functional environment, the post holder will develop and implement commercial solutions, manage contracts, and provide commercial advice and support in the delivery of Maritime Services programmes. The Senior Commercial Officer will be a point of contact for the customer’s commercial organisation for the management of proposals, changes, and provision of commercial information.
What you’ll be doing:
* Prepare bid documentation, including pricing and contractual information, for internal approval and final submission to the customer
* Approve bids within delegated authority and develop commercial relationships with customer representatives and ensure compliance with BAE Systems policies and procedures
* Provision of day-to-day commercial support to the project teams, including contractual and commercial advice, process of payment claims and management of contractual changes
* Agreement of contracts and contract changes with the customer
* Act as the Commercial point of contact for the customer in commercial matters within scope of responsibility, including attending customer meetings as required
* Deputising for Commercial colleagues during periods of absence
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
* Broad professional knowledge of Commercial principles, techniques and practices and application and understanding of the Commercial role in organisations
* Experience of drafting and agreeing contracts and contractual changes
* Good understanding of contract terms, contractual and legal frameworks with the ability to identify key contractual risks
* High degree of customer focus and a commitment to meet deadlines and targets

The Commercial Team:
You will be working within a Commercial team that provides commercial support to the delivery of programmes in the Royal Navy Dockyard in Portsmouth. Your role will focus on specific projects, gaining experience in bidding, contracting and management of contracts in a cross-functional environment with opportunities to grow and develop in a supportive environment.
