We are looking to add to the DBA team someone that has a good grasp of database technologies, is a quick learner and able to bring new ideas to the table. This is primarily a development DBA role but will also involve internal and client production support. Consideration will be given to a developer that wants to move into an administration role or a Production Support DBA that wants to unleash their creative side and work in a more Agile environment. Ensure the availability and security of the SS/G Digital on-premise and cloud based SQL Server estate. Providing database support to developers, analysts and testers. Managing database builds and rollouts. Packaging databases for delivery to client sites. SQL Performance and Optimization. Involvement in Database design at least to physical level Liaison with Client sites in the UK, Europe and US (installation, releases, maintenance) Defining SQL Standards Data security Management of SQL Backups Key Technical Skills Required SQL Server Administration skills (2016, 2017, and above ). Proficient T-SQL skills. Power shell or other scripting language. Good communication skills Able to work to tight deadlines in fast moving, agile environment. Ability to diagnose and solve complex problems. Ability to communicate technical issues to both technical and non-technical staff. Technical Skills Exposure to Visual Studio Experience with source control TFS/ GitHub. Performance and Tuning including Query optimization. Exposure to Redgate Tool set. ER/Studio or other data modelling tool. Data Modelling. Automation skills, Jenkins or similar. Exposure to Cloud Based Database technologies preferably AWS Personal Skills Enthusiastic with excellent problem-solving skills Showing initiative / self-motivated to get the job done and improve practices Great interpersonal skills - ability to converse with both internal and external customers Excellent written and verbal communication Helpful and friendly, thriving in front of a challenge with a strong desire to succeed Additional notes This role requires working one weekend a month for planned maintenance If the role evolves into external client support and on-call requirement it will attract overtime
