Widener University is currently seeking a part-time Campus Safety Guard Booth Officer. The position will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service while greeting visitors, guests, and students throughout the day. This position will work both inside and outside an enclosed booth that vehicles must pass in order to enter or exit the parking lot. This position may also be required to work special events on campus. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to) : Essential duties: Greet arriving and departing guests in a warm and friendly manner. Provide appropriate and customer centric assistance to all visitors, guests, and students. Direct vehicles to proper parking areas. Direct visitors to appropriate areas on campus. Enforce parking lot regulations. Utilize parking enforcement technology. Ability to follow protocol, procedures, and established guidelines. Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing circumstances and needs. Perform other duties as assigned or directed. Secondary responsibilities: Interact with local and State police officials. Ability to maintain and handle confidential information. Monitor and perform regular patrols in assigned parking area. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education/training and experience required) : Required: High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of (1) year of experience in a customer service related field. Must be able to proficiently and professionally operate a handheld radio. Valid Driver’s License. Must successfully pass a criminal background check to include the PA Criminal, PA Child Abuse, and FBI clearance. Preferred: Experience working in higher education or school environment. Familiarity with the local area and surrounding community. Law enforcement, military, campus or public safety experience. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND/OR UNUSUAL HOURS: Ability to walk up and down steps both inside and outside of buildings. Ability to walk outdoors in all types of weather conditions. Ability to stand and/or sit for extended periods of time both inside and outside of buildings. Ability to lift objects weighing up to 35 lbs. Ability to work required and voluntary hours, outside of normally scheduled hours.
