Cheffins is seeking a versatile IT Generalist to assist the IT Manager in our diverse business spread across six offices within a 20 mile radius of Cambridge. The successful candidate will need to have the following:
* A minimum of 2 years of experience in IT support within a business, desirable but not essential.
* Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred.
* Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, ITF+ or Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) are a plus.
* Must be proficient in Windows 10/11, Active Directory, Office 365, SharePoint and common software applications.
* Excellent problem-solving abilities, initiative and strong communication skills essential.
* The ideal candidate will not only identify opportunities for improvement but also take the lead in implementing efficient solutions.
* They will be self-motivated, calm under pressure, capable of working independently, and eager to drive projects forward.
* Candidate must have a full UK driving licence and car insured for business use, as the role will require infrequent visits to our branch offices.
What will you be doing?
Acting as a point of contact for daily IT enquiries, the role offers the opportunity to provide support across a diverse range of IT issues.
Main purpose / scope of role:
* Technical Support: Provide internal first-line support for hardware, software, and network issues. Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems for end-users. Liaising with third party providers where necessary.
* System Administration: Assist with the management and maintenance of our servers, networks, and general IT infrastructure. Ensure system security and data integrity.
* Software Management: Install, configure, and update software applications. Assist with software licensing and compliance.
* Network Management: Monitor and maintain network performance. Troubleshoot network connectivity issues and ensure network security.
* User Training: Jointly train staff on new technologies and best practices both formally and informally. Create and maintain user guides and documentation.
* Project Management: Assist in the planning and execution of IT projects.
* Asset Management: Maintain our inventory of IT assets. Ensure proper disposal of obsolete equipment in accordance with WEEE regulation.
