Job Summary
UK Productions are seeking a highly motivated Deputy Head of Wardrobe to support the Head of Wardrobe and Costume Designer on the delivery of costume requirements for all their in-house and hire-out contracts and manage the day-to-day running of the production wardrobe in Blackpool, Lancashire.
Job Description
As Deputy Head of Wardrobe, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the production wardrobe, undertaking the management of the production wardrobe teams, including costume technicians, millinery and laundry, along with the recruitment and supervision of wardrobe staffing at production venues. Your primary role will be to support the Head of Wardrobe and Costume Designer on the delivery of costume requirements for all in-house, bespoke and hire-out contracts and leading the production wardrobe department in both the making, repairing and altering of costumes and the general running of the wardrobe department.
Job Requirements
You will have...
1. Extensive experience (2 years minimum) working within a Costume / Wardrobe department at Costume Supervisor or HOD level, or relevant experience, preferable within a theatre costume setting.
2. Excellent working knowledge of theatre costume.
3. Experience of working with costumes for stage, or relevant transferable experience.
4. The organisational skills required to manage multiple shows and contracts.
5. Experience of Costume Supervision.
6. Experience of managing a team, and the ability to work on your own.
7. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills included collaboration, discretion and problem-solving.
8. Experience of staff recruitment and training, coaching and mentoring.
9. Excellent knowledge of costume maintenance and provision.
10. Good knowledge of theatrical costume techniques relevant to the preparation and staging of high production quality theatrical productions.
Job Responsibilities
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Deputise the Head of Wardrobe in leading the delivery and management of costume requirements for all in-house productions, bespoke packages, hire contracts and related projects through UK Productions.
2. Co-ordinate with Head of Wardrobe to arrange all preparations for productions.
3. Recruit, manage, and schedule where necessary, costume supervisors, heads of department, wardrobe assistants and dressers for in-house productions.
4. Manage the Production Wardrobe Team to establish priorities and actions to ensure the efficient flow of production.
5. Lead the Production Wardrobe Department in always working to the highest of standards, ensuring that the costume designer's vision is carried out efficiently, safely and to the required standards in both the making, repairing and altering of costumes and the running of the wardrobe department.
6. When required, attend rehearsals, show calls, maintenance calls, get-ins, fit-ups and get-outs.
