SEND Teaching Assistant Full time Permanent placement September start Salary starting at £21,889.68 Long - Term teachers are working with a fantastic college based in Yeovil, who are seeking an experienced SEN Teaching assistant on a full time basis, as of September. About the role: The college supports students aged 16 to 25, all of which have a special educational need, which includes complex learning difficulties, communication difficulties and SEMH. The college's aim is to improve the students quality of life and life after their education by providing a rich curriculum. Their timetable includes life skills, GCSE, work experience opportunities and enrichment activities. You will be expected to work Monday to Friday, between the hours of 8:30am - 4:30pm, 39 weeks in the year. Main Responsibilities Utilising strategies from students’ Positive Behaviour Support Plan, Communication Plan and Sensory Diet to provide support students to engage effectively in learning, whether on-site, in accommodations or in the community. Working closely with Tutors to follow session plans and schemes of work within Education, and reporting on the progress of students to inform future planning. Developing learning resources that are individualised to meet students’ communication needs Liaising with Education, Care and Clinical staff to provide a multi-disciplinary approach to supporting outcomes for students. Supporting students to engage in a range of enrichment activities, including accessing local leisure facilities or day trips across Somerset. About you: The headteacher is looking for someone who can bring enthusiasm and confidence to the role. It is desirable that you have worked with young adults with SEND prior to your application, whether this be within a school or care setting. At times, the role will be challenging and you will be required to de - escalate challenging situations calmly and effectively. The staff here work as a team, so you must be mouldable to support peers in challenging situations, as well as being able to use initiative when working alone.
