New Directions Education is proudly working with a primary school in Salford that is looking for a SEN teaching assistant to join them on a longer-term basis. This SEN teaching assistant role is working with a KS1 pupil on a 1:1 basis. The student is non-verbal and has sensory needs. Experience of working 1:1 with pupils with speech, language and communication needs is essential for this role. The SEN teaching assistant role is full-time, longer-term and is to commence asap.
Responsibilities of the role included but are not limited to:
* Have excellent communication skills.
* Be able to build strong relationships with students and staff.
* Be encouraging and supportive.
* Have a positive attitude towards teaching and aiding children's development.
* Ensure the safety and well-being of the student.
Job Specification:
* Supervise and provide learning support for a child on a 1:1 basis
* Assist with the development of individual education and behavioural plans setting challenging expectations for pupils to achieve learning goals.
* Establish trusting relationships with a key pupil and interact with them according to individual needs and personality
* Collaborate with SEND leaders and class teachers to ensure the best possible provision for student in your care
Person Specification
* Have experience working in the care sector or equivalent
* Supported pupils on a 1:1 basis
* Experience working with pupils who are non-verbal is advantageous
* Be outgoing, fun and engaging
* Willing to support children of all abilities and needs
* Have a positive and ambitious attitude to learning
