What the Job Involves This role involves exercising functions under the Mental Health Act 1983, including decisions related to compulsory admission for assessment or treatment. As an AMHP within Adult Social Services in Pembrokeshire, you will work to maximize individuals' independence while safeguarding vulnerable service users. You will manage and assess any risks posed during acute illness, including taking appropriate action based on the Mental Health Act and other legislation. Principal duties include independent assessments and decision-making, managing compulsory admissions, coordinating resources, legal processes, and collaborating with health board colleagues. Additionally, you will provide social work services to vulnerable client groups and represent the local authority, working with statutory organizations. The job requires flexibility to work outside standard hours, attendance at court and tribunal proceedings, and engagement in strategic planning and team development. You will utilize IT systems, participate in meetings and training, and contribute to the ongoing development of the team.
