Financial Accountant
Requirements for the Financial Accountant:
* Proven experience in Business accounting.
* Knowledge and experience working with SAGE 50 Accounts Professional and SAGE Payroll software. Familiarity with Microsoft, emails, excel, word, are essential. A knowledge of CASH software is advantageous.
* Experience preparing and reconciling Monthly Payroll.
* A strong understanding of financial controls, management accounts, and VAT compliance.
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience needed for the Financial Accountant:
* Proven experience in accounts preparation including chart of accounts, nominal codes.
* Good financial analysis skills.
* Competent in the use of word, excel spreadsheets and power-point presentations and reports.
* Good knowledge of financial systems and software.
* Good understanding of financial procedures for sales, purchase and general ledger journals.
* Collaborative team player, willing to support others and share knowledge.
* Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
* Resilient and adaptable to change.
Main Day to Day Duties of the Financial Accountant
Day-to-day Financial Transactions: Responsible for the day-to-day financial transactions including
* Bank – record all bank transactions, receipts and payments, perform regular bank reconciliations on all banks.
* Purchase ledger posting, record all purchase invoices, prepare supplier payment reports, send remittance advice information to suppliers, vouch supplier statements to the ledger, deal with any queries on purchase ledger.
* Credit control – assist with credit control issues.
* General ledger journals – including Payroll journals.
* Ensuring that all transactions are accurate and dealt with in a timely manner.
Reconciliations: Carry out monthly reconciliations to ensure the correct accounting treatments are adhered to for all Balance Sheet Accounts.
Payroll : Prepare and reconcile Monthly Payroll, ensure completion of Pension, CIS and HMRC submissions, and any other ad-hoc payroll related duties.
Reporting: Perform month-end and year-end closing and prepare information for monthly management accounts. Prepare, reconcile and submit quarterly VAT Returns.
Compliance and Audit: Assist with the preparation for the annual Financial Accounts and liaise with external Accountants as required. Ensure the Business complies with relevant financial regulations, and tax regulations.
What you'll need to succeed A strong track record in varied accounts and customer administration work is essential, as well as working in a small team and company in order to cope with a versatile and challenging role. Excellent communication skills along with IT/Excel will be required, as well as a flexible, can-do attitude.
