Role: Domain Architect – connectivity
Rate: Up to £500 per day (inside IR35)
Location: Coventry, UK
Style: Hybrid
Duration: 6 months (initially – view to extend)
Role Description
The successful candidate will provide technical oversight and direction to a team of onshore and offshore network engineers supporting engineering works on the distributed estate for a national UK retailer. This will involve identification of growth opportunities, supporting ongoing transformation programmes and business-driven initiatives as well as ensuring network tools and infrastructure is maintained to drive excellent service levels.
Key Responsibilities
1. Network design, technology evaluation, implementation, security management, performance optimization, documentation and reporting.
2. Perform network modelling, analysis, and planning, including analysis of capacity needs for network infrastructures.
3. Technical Design Authority on behalf of the client for assurance of the high- and low-level designs covering security, contractual and service considerations.
4. Responsible for holding third parties to account for technical and operational aspects of the design.
5. Provide technical and thought leadership as well as strategic oversight to assure business outcomes are delivered by the solution.
6. Build and maintain strong working relationships with client and third-party vendor stakeholders.
7. Help translate business requirements into technical solutions.
8. Ensure integration of the third-party solutions into existing technology and business systems.
9. Guide and mentor technical development in the engineering & service team.
10. Provide and review design documentation.
11. Creating and implementing an overall technical architecture roadmap and strategy that maximizes the return on technology investment, reduces technical debt.
12. Creates reports and technology roadmaps and shares knowledge and insights with others.
13. Coach and mentor network architects and Senior Network SME to become Network architects.
14. Strategic and outward focus, understanding of industry trends/threats/opportunities, history and best practice.
15. A full stack background that has a good understanding of hosting implications for network solutions as well as a focus on service and commercial implications.
16. Able to define and participate in RFPs and product selection with great business analysis skills and able to translate business outcomes to technical requirements.
Key Skills:
1. Experience with a nation-wide retail environment.
2. Knowledge of Cisco SDWAN and Mitel VOIP technologies.
3. Excellent understanding of Aruba networking products and solutions.
4. Understanding of Cloud Firewalls & Security solutions.
5. Ability to construct and document end-to-end designs for networking solutions.
6. Strong communication skills to present complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
7. Good subcontractor management skills.
8. Ability to provide assertive leadership and feedback to senior stakeholders.
9. Awareness of market and industry trends and alternative products.
10. Be a strategic thinker who can communicate network concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
