The Decontamination hub is looking to recruit a an enthusiastic, highly motivated Apprentice Decontamination Maintenance Engineer to meet the operational and maintenance commitments of the Trust.
The post holder will work towards the necessary specialist decontamination technical maintenance skills to ensure the safe and continuous operation of the full range of the Trust Critical Decontamination equipment across East Lancashire Hospitals Trust.
As a member of the specialist decontamination maintenance team within the Decontamination Hub the post holder should be able to demonstrate skills involving planning, organising activities and be capable of multi skill working. Must be able to work with suppliers and specialist contractors’ staff to provide a comprehensive, effective specialist maintenance, testing, service, repair, and installation service, which is responsive and advisory to the users’ needs. in guidance of Senior Decontamination Engineer
Clear individual and team working qualities with a high degree of integrity will be required. The post holder will be expected to attain specialist technical knowledge for all of the Trusts decontamination equipment and have the ability to demonstrate a professional qualitative standard of service delivery.
The post holder will be required to undertake regular technical training to develop new working procedures for new equipment as the needs of the Trust Decontamination service evolves.
Main duties of the job
Communicates with the Decontamination Manager on day-to-day operational business within the Decontamination Hub.
To report any other building, plant and equipment failures and request in writing for the supply of goods or services taking reference to Maintenance manuals, manufacturers data etc. The post holder shall assist in the maintenance of stock levels.
Communicates with all Decontamination staff across the Trust when dealing with breakdowns, undertaking PPM work.
The post holder shall promptly respond to unpredictable incidents and emergency requests received via Hospital Bleep and or mobile communications.

A full driving license is essential
Participation in an out of hours on call system is required

As a Trust appointed Competent Person (Decontamination) (CP(D)) assist in the Statutory testing programme of specialist decontamination equipment to ensure compliance with current legislation and NHS Health Technical Memorandum Guidance documents e.g. HTM01-01, 01-05, 01-06 and other ISO EN linked quality standards. This will involve the completion of plant reports and test certificates.
Carry out maintenance, validation and periodic testing (weekly, quarterly and annual) of Decontamination equipment such as Sterilisers, Automatic Endoscope Reprocessors, Gas Plasma Equipment and Washer Disinfectors
Communicates with all Decontamination staff across the Trust when dealing with breakdowns, undertaking PPM work

Qualifications
Essential criteria
* Attained a recognised craft certified qualification and / or working towards a recognised BTEC/HNC/HND or equivalent recognised specialist technical qualifications across the range of decontamination equipment
Desirable criteria
* Hold recognised academic qualifications in English and Mathematics or an equivalent level of skill.
Experience
Essential criteria
* Demonstrate a minimum of twelve months previous practical and theoretical experience within a specialist Maintenance role.
Knowledge and Skills
Essential criteria
* Proven ability to understand and comply with detailed procedures and use IT.
* Ability to understand specialist technical drawings and diagrams and diagnose technical faults.
* Be able to demonstrate an ability to plan programme and manage maintenance and project priorities under pressure.
* Be able to problem solve and rectify technical faults to fit for purpose standards.

* Be able to demonstrate some continued training across traditional trade groups
