Assistant Accountant - Service and Support Charges - Contract
This role is a 12-month fixed-term contract.

We are recruiting for an Assistant Accountant (Service and Support Charges) to support with the delivery of timely, accurate and effective financial information and performance monitoring systems throughout the Group and externally to customers.
Responsibilities:
1. Contribute to the annual service charge review providing accurate and timely information to service charge customers, calculated in line with their tenancy agreements and leases.
2. Maintain the service charge accounting model to ensure it accurately reflects the appropriate service charge expenditure and the apportionment methodology.
3. Assist with the calculation and production of statement of accounts for shared owners and leaseholders.
4. Assist with commentary and analysis of the monthly management accounts for the Group for service and support charges.
5. Provide financial support to operational teams and be a contact for front line services, assisting with monthly review meetings and budget holder support.
6. Assist with annual budget setting and liaising with staff throughout the Group.
7. Manage in-year budgets including feedback and review. Challenge financial forecasts.
8. Assist with supporting schedules required for internal and external audits.
9. Provide comprehensive sound financial information/advice to internal/external stakeholders.
10. Contribute to the maintenance and development of sound financial systems and processes in order to protect the Group and its resources and to ensure an optimised control environment.
Skills & Experience:
1. Part or fully qualified professional accountancy qualification, e.g. CIMA, ACCA, AAT.
2. Thorough knowledge of accountancy practice.
3. Experience of service and support charges in a housing environment.
4. Track record in delivering operational services which have resulted in measurable business benefits.
5. Relevant experience in a large and complex organisation/function.
6. A successful track record of achievement in implementing effective finance systems and processes in a complex organisation.
7. Evidence of contributing towards high quality Financial Statements and analysis.
8. High levels of IT literacy and an understanding of new ways of working.
9. Track record in contributing to achieving business goals.
10. Evidence of operating collaboratively to take collective responsibility for overall performance.
11. Evidence of co-ordinating and demonstrating the importance of value for money in everyday operations.
Interview Process:
Candidates will undergo in-person interviews, consisting of a competency-based interview.
