About the role…
You will be instrumental to driving successful project outcomes to drive optimum delivery of The Fares, Ticketing and Retail (FTR) programme and projects outputs, working within the PMO to ensure programme-wide controls, tools, logs and processes are effective, efficient and robust. This Project Manager role will hold the programme to appropriate governance and meeting structures, develop detailed project planning to milestones, champion project methodologies such as agile working and support PMO in sequencing appropriate sets of tasks/activities so that projects are delivered to time, cost and quality.
You will work collaboratively with internal and external colleagues such as the Department for Transport, Rail Delivery Group, regional transport authorities, FTR directors and other teams within GBRTT. You will bring collaborative experience and contextual understanding of fares, ticketing and retail projects to support leadership and regular project meetings with the preparation of detailed packs, reports, and management of risks and actions.
You will use your professional, first-class and customer-led project management service to support the once in a generation improvement we are making for our passengers!

The Fares, Ticketing and Retail programme aims to transform the customer retail experience and deliver a rail retail revolution. We are working across the industry to make retailing simpler and better for customers, improve the railway’s profitability and establish a retailing environment where continuous improvement is easy.
This is a once in a generation opportunity to be part of a team delivering on improving the things which customers regularly identify as a priority to fix. You may have already seen some of our work: Pay As You Go pilots announced in the West Midlands and Greater Manchester, and ‘Simpler Fares’ trials on some long distance routes. Our projects aim to give customers the confidence that they can easily book a journey in a way which best suits them, pay the best value price, access accurate travel information and receive exceptional aftercare service. We believe an excellent customer retail experience is key to ensuring long term sustainability of our railways.
What you’ll bring…
1. Experience in successfully delivering projects of varying complexity within different industries.
2. Proven track record in delivering successful, complex projects with an element of business change.
3. Proven experience in management of customer expectations, senior stakeholders and developing strong relationships across the business with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
4. Experience of business requirements gathering.
5. Strong leadership skills; motivating and inspiring confidence in others with high levels of flexibility and adaptability.
6. Strong financial management skills and commercial acumen.
7. Proven track record in supplier management.
8. Experience in Digital and transformational projects is desirable.
This role is available on a Fixed Term Contract or Secondment for 12 months.
