Job Description
We are looking for a Relief Support Worker to join our service based in Ipswich.
Shifts will be spread across mornings, afternoons, evenings, sleep-ins, weekends, and bank holidays. Shift patterns vary greatly depending on the individuals' needs and personalized 1-1 and shared support hours. Sleep-ins are required in two flats on a rota basis.
About our Service
Our service supports ten people across six flats in a cul-de-sac. We provide varying levels of support; some individuals receive support for an hour a day, while others require 24-hour support. Every shift is different. Three of the people we support have their own cars and enjoy trips to places like the beach or zoo.
The people we support engage in meaningful activities such as attending church, helping with cleaning, going to the zoo, visiting the pub, or participating in activities like banger racing. Most enjoy going out most days regardless of the weather.
What does a Relief Support Worker do?
As a Relief Support Worker, you will provide outstanding support to help individuals live more comfortable, dignified, liberated, and happy lives.
* Personal care – supporting individuals with morning and evening routines, including showering, bathing, continence, and bathroom use.
* Supporting personal safety – carrying out checks in line with support plans.
* Providing person-centered support – engaging in conversations, reading support plans, and understanding individual preferences, communication methods, and support needs.
* Communication and record keeping – maintaining detailed records of support provided, including daily notes, medication support, MAR sheets, financial records, and food and fluid charts. Effective communication and handovers are essential.
