Job Description Lifecycle Engineer – Commercial Aviation, Large Engine Programmes Full time Hybrid 3 day on site / Derby What you will be doing: An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Commercial Aviation Lifecycle Engineering team within the XWB or Trent Fleet and Mature Engine programmes. The primary purpose of this role is to provide world-class technical support for in-service and delivered products, to influence maturity throughout the product life cycle to meet customer and business needs and ensure design intent is met. You will lead investigations of operational issues to establish root cause, introduce containment actions and recommend corrective actions. As well as providing technical surveillance and quality assurance audits to support continuous product enhancement for customer satisfaction and business expectation, you will also develop and approve the technical content of publications and communications (used by OEM, build/commissioning/maintenance bases and customers). You will also be expected to prepare and deliver technical communications to platform provider, regulators, customers and internal stakeholders. Responsibilities: Management of known and potential safety issues (SAR & Red Top) and appropriate involvement in safety boards as defined in the Safety Management Plan. Predict future safety and reliability performance based on failure rates, adopting statistical techniques to support Numerical Risk Assessment, Parametric Distribution and fly forward analysis. Identify cost reduction opportunities by reviewing and maintaining life cycle engineering policies and any associated maintenance planning documentation. Manage any issues that affect the Maturity, Lifecycle Cost, Reliability and Maintainability and maintain Design Intent. Provide lifecycle technical data (build/in-service/decommissioning) and model/support modelling of through life performance, deterioration mechanisms and service attributes to create and maintain time on platform prediction, identify opportunities for optimization and support the generation of the Service Operation Validation Strategy. Identify requirements for new Health Monitoring Systems or capability. Ensure compliance with requirements specified by regulatory authorities and to adhere to technical and business requirements of internal & external stakeholders. Where delegated, act as the Technical Authority providing assurance on build, commissioning and maintenance activities. Gather in-service data and carry out continuous improvement by identifying Best Practice and Learning from Experience activities, feeding back into future programmes and product design teams.
