As the largest single site specialist heart and chest hospital in the UK, we, at Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital, have a clear vision 'to be the best cardiothoracic integrated healthcare organisation'.
We provide specialist services in cardiothoracic surgery, cardiology, respiratory medicine including adult cystic fibrosis and diagnostic imaging, both in the hospital and out in the community.
We serve a catchment area of 2.8 million people, spanning Merseyside, Cheshire, North Wales and the Isle of Man, and increasingly we receive referrals from outside these areas for highly specialised services such as aortics.
Job overview
We are seeking applications from suitably skilled Band 5 Staff Nurses and ODPs to join our Bank to support our friendly and dynamic clinical areas. As a Bank worker you will be part of a flexible workforce and have the opportunity to gain knowledge and experience by working in different areas in the Trust. We need workers who are available to work a variety of shift types, sometimes at short notice.
Main duties of the job
1. Assess, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of evidence-based care (according to specialism).
2. Assist in the management and organisation of a clinical area.
3. Contribute to the development and supervision of other staff members.
4. Work collaboratively and co-operatively with others to meet the needs of patients and their families in line with patient and family centered care.
5. Manage the safe and effective use of resources.
6. Participate in the education and development of other staff members.
Person specification
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse / ODP with active PIN
* Evidence of continuing professional development linked to clinical competencies.
* Assessing and Mentoring Qualification
Experience
* 12 Months Post Registration Experience
* Recent experience in a Hospital setting
* Previous experience of Cardiothoracic Surgery / Medical Nursing
Skills and abilities
* Ability to plan and prioritise care for patients
* Commitment to patient and family centred care
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to communicate effectively with patients, visitors and colleagues
* Have effective interpersonal skills
* Experience of supervising and training students
