About the role
We are seeking a high-calibre Construction Associate to join our dynamic and rapidly growing construction team. As a Construction Associate, you will play a key role in advising clients on a wide range of construction matters, both contentious and non-contentious. Your expertise will be utilised to navigate complex construction projects and disputes, with a strong focus on dispute resolution, contract drafting, and negotiation.
You will play a pivotal role in the Construction team, helping to drive market share and brand presence, managing a varied caseload from reviewing, preparing, and amending suites of construction documents to working on complex and high-stakes construction litigation cases.
Key accountabilities
Dispute resolution:
* Advise clients on construction disputes, including mediation, arbitration, and litigation, with a proven track record of success in high-stake cases.
Technical expertise:
* Reviewing and negotiating contracts including standard form construction and FIDIC contracts, and other related agreements.
* Conduct due diligence on construction projects, including reviewing contracts, permits, and other documentation.
Client-Centric approach:
* Provide ongoing support to clients during construction projects, including advising on contractual obligations, payment schedules, and project timelines.
Communication skills:
* Collaborate with other departments, including project finance and construction management, to provide integrated advice to clients.
* Providing support to the legal team through all stages of the process including front-end and back-end construction.
About you
PQE: Qualified solicitor with a minimum of 4 years of post-qualification experience in construction law.
Knowledge: Familiarity with relevant construction legislation, including the Construction Act, the Housing Grants, Construction and Regeneration Act 1996.
Technical skills: A detailed understanding of construction and engineering contracts.
Ambitious and collaborative: A proactive, team-oriented professional who will share experience in providing pragmatic legal advice to the construction sector.
Communication skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients, colleagues, and third-party stakeholders.
Innovative and tech-savvy: A genuine interest in leveraging legal technology to enhance service delivery and improve efficiency.
