Central is currently recruiting for a Mental Health Support Worker, to work in the Wandsworth area. The service provides accommodation and support to people who have mental health support needs. The successful candidate will be required to work 37.5 hours per week, working across Monday – Sunday on a rota basis covering early and late shifts (Monday – Friday) and long shifts at the weekend (8AM – 8:30PM). Temporary cover is required for approximately 2-3 months. The pay rate for this role is £14.49 per hour, with £1.75 holiday pay, totalling £16.24 per hour. In this position, you will be required to: Hold a caseload of 4 - 5 key clients and conduct regular key working sessions resulting in Support Plans that are relevant and effective for each resident's needs Complete comprehensive risk and needs assessments Employ a collaborative approach in developing Support Plans, actively involving residents in the process to empower them and encourage ownership of their personal goals and safety strategies Provide comprehensive support; encompassing emotional, practical and housing management assistance Build trust and rapport with residents, particularly those who may be resistant or hesitant, using a person-centred approach to engage them in the planning process Collaborate with professionals like social workers, healthcare workers and mental health specialists to ensure comprehensive care Act as an advocate for residents, ensuring their needs are communicated and respected Recognise when it is necessary to refer residents to other agencies for specialised support and care. This may involve navigating challenging situations and working closely with residents to prepare them for engagement with these external services, ensuring a smooth and supportive transition Aid in daily living tasks like cleaning, cooking, shopping and managing finances Encourage and assist residents in accessing educational, employment, leisure and social activities, fostering personal development Ensure residents are abiding by the terms of their housing license and maintaining a safe living environment Ensure compliance with health and safety standards in all aspects of work Please note; this role involves loneworking. To apply for this role candidates must have; Experience working with vulnerable adults, ideally within a mental health, supported housing or homelessness context Strong understanding of trauma-informed and person-centred approaches Ability to create collaborative support plans, build trust and rapport and foster collaboration with residents who may be ambivalent or resistant to support Proficiency in managing caseloads, conducting assessments and analysing data to identify resident needs Strong communication and coordination skills to work with professionals from various disciplines Knowledge of regulations and protocols, ensuring adherence to health and safety standards.
