We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive professional to support the Head of Underwriting Controls in ensuring robust oversight and controls across all managed syndicates. This role will play a key part in maintaining high standards of underwriting governance and assisting in the seamless onboarding of new syndicates into the Underwriting Controls Framework. This role can be based in either London or Cheltenham.
Key Responsibilities
1. To report to the Head of Underwriting Controls and assist in the delivery of the managing agency underwriting operations and controls framework, including the onboarding of new syndicates into the framework.
2. Support the Head of Underwriting Controls in the enabling of a robust operating and controls framework for all managed syndicates.
3. To aid the Head of Underwriting Controls in the preparation of underwriting performance and exception reporting and in providing analysis and insights into syndicate underwriting performance and activities.
4. To assist in the advancement and efficiency of underwriting dashboards and reporting.
5. To work with the Head of Underwriting Controls and colleagues in the Cheltenham office to help ensure the smooth incorporation of new syndicate data into the 'tech stack' and delivery of syndicate reports, accurately and on time. This to include the carrying out of Data Quality Checks as appropriate and identifying areas of concern and deviations from standards.
6. To assist in the preparation of regulatory returns as required.
7. To conduct ad hoc reviews and projects as required.
8. To maintain compliance with Lloyd's Principles for Doing Business and any applicable UK or International statutory or regulatory obligations as required by the role.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
1. Some experience in the Lloyd's or Company market in an underwriting support function role.
2. Some knowledge of underwriting systems and underwriting management information.
3. Self-motivated and proactive.
4. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple deadlines.
5. Excellent level of IT skills including Excel.
6. Highly numerate with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong interpersonal skills.
8. Ability to work collaboratively and develop strong relationships internally and externally.
9. Preferably a graduate and progress towards ACII qualification or interest in the ACII qualification.
10. Some understanding of underwriting oversight and controls.
11. May have previous experience of working in a Managing Agent or in the Company market.
