We are expanding our team to achieve these ambitious goals and are looking for a driven Business Development Executive to join us on this journey.
Position Overview: The Business Developer will play a crucial role in supporting our internal sales and administration efforts, with a clear pathway to advancing into external sales and product specialization. This role offers significant opportunities for career growth, supported by comprehensive training and development programs.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Internal Sales and Administration:
o Process and input orders, manage rescheduling of shipments, and provide SCOPE (Wood Logistics) support.
o Respond to landed stock sales enquiries, proactively drive sales, and manage clearance of old stock and oddments.
o Circulate stock notes and maintain accurate records.
o Support with due diligence documentation and reporting.
2. External Sales and Business Development:
o Target new customers and grow smaller existing accounts, contributing to overall business growth.
o Develop sales in Lodgepole and other processed products from Wood Scandinavia.
o Actively participate in UK trade associations where appropriate, representing SCA Wood.
3. Training and Development:
o Engage in comprehensive training on all aspects of the UK business and the wood industry, including internal administration, sales, shipping, and logistics.
o Participate in an induction program in Sweden, including visits to sawmills and other relevant business areas.
o Receive ongoing IT support and training, as well as any other necessary professional development.
Profile of the Ideal Candidate:
1. Experience:
o 1-2 years of sales experience, ideally within the timber industry or a similar raw materials sector.
o Demonstrated experience in B2B sales is highly desirable.
2. Skills:
o Strong business acumen with excellent negotiation skills.
o Self-motivated, capable of working independently, and a strong team player.
o Proficient in managing administrative tasks with attention to detail.
o Ability to proactively develop business opportunities and drive sales growth.
o Excellent communication skills, able to communicate effectively with colleagues and customers alike.
3. Qualifications:
o Full UK driving license is essential.
o Must be located within reasonable commuting distance to our Southern UK office in Saffron Walden. We work from the office 2 days a week, with each employee choosing which days these are.

1. Meeting or exceeding sales targets for landed stock and forward contracts.
2. Expanding the customer base and increasing market share for SCA Wood products.
3. Successfully clearing old stock and ensuring smooth logistics and order processing.
4. Developing a deep understanding of the wood industry and contributing to SCA Wood’s strategic goals.
