Embedded Software Engineer 'C' or C++
Location: Bristol
Salary: £50,000 to £70,000 - Dependant on experience

We're working with an award-winning, world-leading, technical & scientific engineering organisation, with sites across Europe, that has an exciting opportunity for an Embedded Software Engineer to join a small dedicated team to develop middleware solutions.
Embedded Software Engineer Role
This role will sit within a driven team with a passion for software and its successful deployment in battlespace Command and Control (C2) weapon systems. They work on technology that is at the forefront of European system design, delivering safe, secure, and reliable products to customers.
The products require Linux Operating System (OS) migration, configuration and security solutions implementation, so a good experience with Linux is essential for this position. You will be developing solutions targeting a large range of problems from hardware drivers to web services. This role provides a great opportunity for someone wanting to be involved in many differing areas of software!
Working across multiple applications on both land and maritime projects in the systems software department, this role allows for involvement in many of the most advanced missile systems in the world, across multiple warfare domains.
Embedded Software Engineer required:
1. Experience with C or C++ (at least one of these is essential), Ada, and/or JavaScript, shell scripting languages with a solid background in software engineering.
2. Experience configuring, securing and maintaining Linux OSs (Redhat and/or Ubuntu) including Kernel configuration and Kernel test.
3. A passion for software engineering, with the ability to innovate and think critically to solve complex software problems with a willingness to develop software skillsets either through on the job, or formal training.
4. Knowledge of software design differences between Real-Time OSs and Hypervisors would be beneficial.
5. Comfortable working with a team in a collaborative environment, communicating and contributing to design and implementation decisions, and supporting integration.
6. Experience in the development of software for Commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) hardware and be comfortable working with target system hardware.
