A rare opportunity to join a long-standing, friendly village accountancy firm with a flexible, lifestyle-focused working culture.
The Role
We're looking for an experienced Personal Tax Manager to take over an existing portfolio and help us maintain the high standards our clients have come to expect over the decades. With one of our long-serving team members retiring, this role is key to the smooth running of our personal tax function. This is a part-time position (3 days/week), with the option to increase to full-time for the right person. We're open to hybrid working, but being based in or near Oldham is preferred, as we still serve walk-in clients and believe in the value of face-to-face service.
What You'll Do
1. Manage a portfolio of personal tax clients (including HNWIs, landlords, and sole traders)
2. Prepare and review Self-Assessment tax returns
3. Advise on Income Tax, Capital Gains Tax, and Inheritance Tax
4. Identify tax-saving opportunities and ensure HMRC compliance
5. Support junior staff and provide technical guidance where needed
6. Help maintain our firm's strong reputation for personable and responsive service
What We're Looking For
1. ATT, CTA, ACCA, ACA qualified or qualified by experience
2. 3+ years of experience in personal tax within a UK accountancy practice
3. Strong UK tax knowledge and confident working independently
4. Excellent attention to detail and client communication skills
5. A team player who enjoys a relaxed, collaborative working environment
6. Preferably based within commuting distance of Oldham
Why Join Us?
1. Flexible part-time role (3 days/week) with full-time considered
2. Hybrid working option (depending on experience and fit)
3. Work in a beautiful village with a relaxed and friendly culture
4. Low-pressure, lifestyle-focused environment - ideal for someone seeking long-term stability
5. Supportive, down-to-earth team with strong values
6. Competitive salary based on experience
7. Free parking and fantastic countryside walks nearby
