3PL Buyer
We are looking for a Buyer for an established and growing global organization that works within the electronics distribution sector, collaborating with clients in the Defence, Aerospace, Automotive, and Medical sectors. Employing nearly 200 people worldwide and with a turnover of over £200 million, this is truly an exciting time to be part of this dynamic company.
They are at the forefront of quality and service-driven component distribution, setting the standards now and anticipating future trends to ensure their services are aligned with our customers’ businesses.
They will consider a Procurement Assistant who wants to take the next step into a Buyer role, but ideally, they want someone with at least two years of experience as a Buyer in a similar industry or from a more technical background.
Key Responsibilities
1. Working closely with the 3PL Supply Chain Manager, the Buyer will be responsible for the procurement of 3PL projects, including quotations and supplier management, ensuring delivery per the 5 rights of procurement: the right quality, quantity, place, time, and price.
2. Regular engagement with suppliers to negotiate the best deals and collaborate on supply chain solutions, ensuring continuity of supply, reducing the total cost of ownership, and managing risk.
3. Utilizing tools such as CalcuQuote and Z2Data for RFQs, risk analysis, BOM health, and obsolescence will be a key part of the role. Analyzing the information to offer comprehensive supply chain solutions for the customer, informative market knowledge, and reporting key data that may influence procurement strategies for 3PL and their customer base. Training will be provided.
4. Engagement with the group global sourcing team to seek opportunities for enhanced PPV, solutions for obsolescence, and part shortages.
5. Collaborate with the product and technology team to deliver design-registered pricing for the 50+ lines the company is franchised for, providing technical/alternative solutions to existing and evolving component challenges.
6. Deliver projects to the 5 rights of procurement within the scope of the contract.
7. Improve GP for project profitability and against quarterly targets.
8. Manage stock control by procuring to lean inventory.
9. Meet contractual customer KPIs.
10. Implement cost reductions.
11. Manage supplier and customer risk.
12. Ensure project compliance management.
