Senior Clinical Fellow in Gastroenterology and GIM
We have 1 fixed term appointment available for 12 months in the Gastroenterology department. The post is full time and the post holder will be expected to participate in the general medicine rota. This is an excellent opportunity within Gastroenterology at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust. The successful candidate will be working within the Gastroenterology team, which will involve working in a general medical gastroenterology ward with opportunities to do specialist Gastroenterology clinics and learn gastrointestinal endoscopy.
The trust will support doctors considering a career in gastroenterology in attaining Internal medicine competencies and IM3 equivalencies, which are required prior to applications for higher specialty training.
Main duties of the job
1. The post holder will be involved in the day-to-day care of all patients who remain on Ward 8A.
2. The post holder will communicate effectively with nursing and medical staff of other disciplines, ancillary workers, and paramedics to achieve efficient management of patients.
3. The post holder will ensure close liaison with general practitioners, Local Authority social services staff, health visitors, community nursing services, and other relevant services for patients requiring ongoing care in the community.
4. The post holder will perform additional duties in emergencies and unforeseen circumstances and will be available for irregular commitments outside normal rostered duties as essential for continuity of patient care.

Person Specification
Previous Experience
* Experience of working in General Medicine and Gastroenterology.
* NHS experience.
* Experience in outpatients and inpatients in Gastroenterology.
Knowledge
* Demonstrated understanding of basic principles of audit, evidence-based practice, and clinical quality improvement initiatives.
Fitness to Practice
* Evidence of engagement with appraisal and revalidation.
Qualifications / Training
* Hold a current licence to practice from the General Medical Council.
* Advanced Life Support Certificate or equivalent.
* College Membership (MRCP) or equivalent qualification.
* MD or PhD.
