In this role, you will be responsible for carrying out full BMS commissioning to help implement building management systems solutions for commercial and industrial buildings across Manchester, Liverpool, and wider areas across the North West of the UK.
This will involve carrying out full BMS commissioning to ensure that the systems meet client requirements and industry standards for performance and efficiency. You will be expected to provide technical support and training to clients and project stakeholders, as well as to assess BMS performance and make recommendations for improvements.
You will be expected to work well as part of a commissioning team but also work efficiently on your own as required. You may be responsible for supervising junior engineers, ensuring they work effectively and safely whilst on site. You will be part of the project's commissioning team; therefore, the sharing of technical knowledge with other engineers is encouraged whilst obtaining support from the team when necessary.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Check emails on a daily basis for instructions.
2. Responsible for making backups of software and strategy files as required for all associated systems/sites.
3. Liaise with sub-contract engineers and clients and report back with any design or engineering changes or issues.
4. Build and maintain strong client relations.
5. Day-to-day management of sub-contractors.
6. Attend site-based commissioning/progress meetings as required.
7. Ensure the project is delivered in line with the programme of works and intended design.
8. Carry out field point-to-point checks, terminations, panel, and wiring modifications as required.
9. Commission various DDC control systems (TREND, Tridium, or others as required), completing wiring and commissioning schedules, updating control panel drawings, and descriptions of operation in the commissioning file.
10. Produce daily reports of works carried out and submit them to the relevant Project Manager, highlighting any delays, their cause, and timescale.
11. Ensure all 'AS COMMISSIONED' information is collated and returned to the relevant Project Manager or saved appropriately.
12. Update the server regularly.
13. Keep witnessing packs up to date and appropriately signed off.
14. Ensure diligent demonstration and handover to the client on projects.
15. Carry out site surveys as required and produce detailed reports with recommendations.
16. Attend training courses and meetings as required.
17. Ensure works are carried out within the project method statement and risk assessments, amending where necessary with any required deviation being reported to the Project Manager or Health & Safety representative.
18. Enforce Health & Safety interests of the company on a day-to-day basis for all employees and sub-contractors, creating and enforcing method statements and risk assessments, and updating them when necessary.
19. Adhere to all client and company ISO, Health & Safety procedures, and policies.
20. Provide technical support to team members.
21. Produce, submit, and amend technical submittals as required.
22. Produce RFIs and technical submissions to be sent to the client.
23. Undertake any other duties deemed necessary by the directors/managers of the business.
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
1. Experienced with at least one of the following systems: Trend, Tridium, Schneider, Siemens, ALC.
2. Knowledge of Niagara-based systems.
3. Ability to correctly interpret and alter existing control strategy in BMS systems.
4. Knowledgeable about HVAC systems.
5. Electrically competent.
6. Strong PC skills (Word and Excel).
