Job Purpose The purpose of the role is to support policy development and downstream tracking and course correction for Portfolio Management for Credit Cards. The role will include the following: Policy formulation and optimization for Balance Build / Revenue Enhancement offerings for Cards such as Balance Transfer, Cash on EMI, Loan on Phone Exposure Management actions such as CLD / Blocking Authorizations Initiation of activation, utilization and retention strategies as appropriate for different portfolio segments and ensure that all aspects of portfolio management result in metric profiles consistent with approved credit card program. Cross Sell opportunities for liability and asset customers Oversight and management of policy coding on key systems such as TRIAD Tracking of portfolio performance and policy changes for course correction Interactions with business stakeholders to capture policy asks Generation of Analytics / MIS to support policy changes and policy tracking Principal Responsibilities Responsible for supporting the Head of INM WPB Risk on overseeing credit risks for retail unsecured lending portfolios. Perform analysis on credit test performance, portfolio concentration and credit quality Identify early warning signals and emerging risks, and propose actions to effectively control bad debts within appetite Partner with regional and local market teams on business expansion initiatives (new markets, segments, channels, etc.) and provide guidance for balanced and sustainable growth Work closely with Regional Analytics teams to devise acquisition and account management tests / strategies for credit cards Impact on the Business/Function Review portfolio trends on delinquencies and losses for Cards Review Balance Build / CLI waterfall by product to optimize the risk/return trade off Review performance of portfolio frameworks such as PRG– check performance against benchmarks. Review vintage performance of Balance Build products by segment – against benchmarks. Complete analytical projects to optimise risk reward balance and ensure portfolio losses remain within appetite. Prepare thematic reviews for inclusion in submissions to various forums. Customers / Stakeholders Build and maintain excellent working relations within the risk function and country risk and business teams. Manage relationship with stakeholders in WPB Retail Assets, D&A, and RRA teams. Ensure new risk strategies are appropriate for customer. Leadership & Teamwork Support achievement of the HSBC vision, values, goals and culture in personal behaviour, actions and decision making. Share best practices and encourage others to do the same in the best interests of HSBC and its customers. Contribute to the implementation and monitoring of the application of policies, governance frameworks, procedures, practices and standards to ensure quality, effective risk management and regulatory compliance. Requirements Post Graduate (preferably MBA or Post Grad in Statistics) with 4-5 years’ experience in retail credit risk analytics. Strong analytical capabilities. Knowledge on SAS or other data mining tools is essential. Good understanding of consumer credit cycle and analytics. Ability to surface risks and suggest sound risk management controls Ability to analyze business problem, and risk mitigations. Sound communication skills.
