Specific responsibilities of this role: promote positive daily strategies and actions for the highest standards of student behaviour, attitudes and conduct in line with our ‘Clear, Firm and Fair’ framework promote school culture based on our core values: 3 R’s and RAISE establish a learning culture for students with high expectations for attendance, punctuality, behaviour, and performance attend Head of Year meeting as scheduled or directed by your line manager support with the running of daily whole school detentions as directed contribute to the improvement of teaching and learning, particularly through the development of positive classroom relationships and the use of praise and recognition build a strong school ethos among students, their families, and tutors in the year group maintain excellent communication and relationships with families leadership and management of the pastoral manager and form tutors, including the use of quality assurance procedures to ensure high quality and consistency of provision use data to analyse and monitor the progress of students in the year group and plan support to overcome any barriers to learning and underachievement if across multiple subject areas, in collaboration with the relevant heads of faculty work collaboratively with other members of the pastoral team to ensure co-ordinated planning, management, and evaluation of all aspects of achievement and behaviour, including attending regular head of year team meetings tracking and implementing proactive strategies to improve attendance and punctuality across the year group use data to monitor and analyse standards within the year group including attendance, punctuality, and student conduct ensure the effective delivery of the pastoral curriculum during tutor and assembly time monitor students’ progress in terms of personal development and instigate measures to address any identified concerns take primary responsibility for organising and leading year group assemblies establish an inspirational learning ethos among students in the year group assist with events relating to the year group e.g., progress evenings ensure effective communication within the year team including the effective deployment of student leaders lead year team briefing sessions and contribute to whole school training as appropriate participate, as necessary, in arrangements of the appraisal of staff performance monitor staff welfare and hold return to work meetings monitor that staff comply with school policies and procedures and provide support and challenge as required follow pastoral reporting systems and referral processes plus, any additional duties as directed by the headteacher We welcome visitors to the school.
