Job Description Assistant Finance Manager Vacancy - based in Northampton, NN5 Job Purpose: The business is seeking an Assistant Finance Manager. It’s for a worldwide logistics Company who are a market-leading provider of two-person home delivery, specialising in premium white glove services that ensure a seamless and high-quality experience. Main Duties and Responsibilities: Oversee and maintain the Nominal Ledger and Fixed Asset Register. Monitor daily cash flow and prepare cash flow forecasts. Collaborate with Finance and Operations teams to complete weekly and monthly financial reports. Prepare and post journals, including accruals and prepayments, to ensure month-end close is completed within deadlines. Analyse monthly performance against the prior month, budget, and prior year to identify trends and variances. Enhance balance sheet transparency and control by performing full monthly reconciliations and promptly resolving any discrepancies. Support the preparation of budgets and forecasts, including balance sheet and cash flow components. Assist with both external and internal audit processes. Prepare quarterly VAT returns and reconcile VAT/Corporation Tax accounts. Provide ad hoc reports and analysis to assist senior management in decision-making. Person Specification: Knowledge of supply chain and logistics (desirable). AAT qualification, part-qualified CIMA/ACCA, or equivalent preferred, though relevant experience will also be considered. Strong analytical and numerical skills. Excellent problem-solving and evaluation abilities. Familiarity with foreign currency transactions and purchase/sales tax (desirable). Ability to meet tight deadlines with efficiency. Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy. Capable of addressing complex issues in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Skilled in identifying and managing risks. Proficient in reporting and presentation. Comfortable working at both detailed and high-level summaries. Advanced Excel skills, with knowledge of Sage as an advantage. Effective at managing multiple priorities and adapting to change. Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
