About the role As an Estimator you will play a pivotal part in the success of Malin Marine Services. You will be responsible for analysing project specifications, preparing detailed cost estimates, and supporting our budgeting and bidding process for manufacturing and fabrication projects. Your responsibilities will include accurately calculating costs for materials, labour, equipment, and time required to complete a project while identifying and accounting for potential risks. What we’re looking for We are looking for a detail-orientated individual with a deep understanding of fabrication processes, materials and technical specifications. You should be adept at interpreting technical documentation and translating project requirements into precise cost estimates. Strong organisational skills are essential, as is the ability to work across multiple bids while maintaining accuracy and efficiency. Skills and Experience In-depth understanding of manufacturing and fabrication techniques, materials, and machinery (e.g., welding, machining, assembly) Exceptional attention to detail to ensure accurate breakdowns of project components, materials, and labor to produce an accurate estimate. Clear communication with suppliers, clients, engineers, and production teams to gather information and clarify requirements. Critical thinking to identify cost-saving opportunities or anticipate potential challenges. Knowledge of market trends, including material cost changes, labour rates, and new fabrication techniques. Where will you be working? You will be based at Westway Business Park, Renfrew. Westway is Scotland’s largest full enclosed industrial park, the park is currently home to Malin Marine Services and our sister company Malin Equipment.
