The Role
This is an exciting, forward-looking prep school DT opportunity. We are looking for an excellent and open-minded practitioner to participate collaboratively in a re-appraisal of how DT and Art can and should create an interdisciplinary environment not just for self-expression but also for critical thinking, evaluation and problem-solving. You will show the flexibility of approach and creativity to work with the Head of Art to develop a curriculum that equips pupils with such creativity, critical thinking, and interdisciplinary skills and which will, therefore, help them to thrive in the most innovative and forward-thinking senior schools.
The ambition for the Art & DT curricula is that they will be collaboratively designed to foster pupils’ problem-solving abilities, encourage exploration across fields, and build the confidence needed to pursue bold, pioneering paths during their education and beyond.
This role has the potential to be either part-time (minimum 0.6 timetable) or full-time, based on the candidate’s preferences, strengths, and other offerings. If seeking full-time, candidates should be able to offer a second subject. There can be some flexibility as to what this is. The ability to coach Games (football, rugby and/or cricket) would be an advantage but is not essential. Please could applicants make clear in their covering letter whether they seek full-time or part-time, which second subject they could offer if seeking full-time and to what level they would feel comfortable doing so, and/or whether they would want to offer Games coaching.
