The MRI department has recently undergone and is continuing to undergo an extensive equipment replacement programme, seeing all its MRI scanners replaced with new state of the art scanning technology. The department has recently installed a Siemens Sola in a new dedicated purpose-built area with a dedicated anaesthetic room, bed bays, reporting work areas and separate cannulation areas. In addition, the department has replaced the 3T system with the installation of a Siemens Vida d. Furthermore, there is a GE HDX Twinspeed 1.5T scanner within the department. Also on the John Radcliffe site, there is a fourth MRI scanner dedicated to Neuro scanning and situated in the Neuroradiology department in the West Wing of the hospital. This scanner is in the process of being replaced and by the end of September will see a new Philips Ingenia Ambition installed. With the new technology, the department is now able to set up links with the University MRI scanning department, seeing new and exciting research into scanning techniques.
