We have an exceptional opportunity for a Construction Management Graduate Trainee to gain hands-on experience on a Fixed-Term Contract at our Wallyford project in Edinburgh.
About the Role
This is a fixed-term contract position as a Construction Management Graduate Trainee, assisting and shadowing the Site Management team to deliver safe, high-quality construction developments, upholding HSE requirements, Client/Design Team standards, budgets, and details.
The Graduate Trainee will play a key role in ensuring compliance with Group procedures and external regulations, carrying out site management tasks as delegated by the Site Management team.
Main Responsibilities:
* Maintain adherence to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) requirements.
* Supervise direct labour and subcontractors, ensuring effective site operations.
* Verify drawings and quantities, assist in scheduling materials, and plan work to meet deadlines.
* Liaise with consultants and sub-contracts engaged in the project as necessary.
* Ensure quality records are maintained to meet quality requirements.
* Resolve unexpected technical difficulties and other issues that may arise.
* Arrange material testing and calibration of instruments used.
* Keep a detailed Site Diary.
* Collaborate effectively with other members of the construction site team.
* Interact with function/departmental managers, introducing improvements and innovation where appropriate.
Your Skills and Experience
This role is ideal for students pursuing a degree in Construction Management, particularly third or fourth-year students looking to enhance their practical knowledge and experience in the construction industry while continuing their studies.
The successful candidate will have:
* A degree in Construction Management or HND in Construction Management.
* Previous relevant industry experience.
* Proficiency in standard IT packages, including Microsoft Office Suite.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Effective time management and clear communication skills.
* An understanding of construction management practices and H&S requirements.
* A Valid CSCS card (SSSTS/SMSTS desirable but not essential).
* A current and valid UK driving licence (beneficial but not essential).
* Willingness to undertake all relevant training required by this role.
* First Aid at Work (desirable, training provided as needed).
