Job summary Are you an experienced, dynamic Children's nurse with a passion for education and high-quality care? An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Emergency Departments to join the education team as a Band 6 Clinical Skills Educator. We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated and flexible individual, with a strong focus on training and education to support the Band 7 Clinical Educators to develop and drive forward a robust education programme for the nursing workforce within our ED departments. The post holder will be an experienced Children's ED nurse and will work closely with the senior nursing team and MTD to deliver high quality education and training, helping staff to realise their potential and to identify and develop their Emergency Department skills. This is an exciting time for our Emergency Departments, as we prepare to open a brand-new department on the Scarborough site. This role will support the growing Paediatric ED nursing establishment, ensuring training, progression, and high standards of patient care. This fantastic post will allow you to shape the nursing and healthcare staff of the future through the provision of high-quality education and learning opportunities and leadership. This is a cross site role which will involve working at both the York and Scarborough sites. Main duties of the job The Clinical Skills Educator main duties include but are not inclusive to: Plan and facilitate training days for the nursing teams and student nurses. Able to present and teach, demonstrating a sound teaching approach utilising mixed media, simulation and creating a positive learning environment. Work alongside nursing staff and students to provide direct clinical based teaching. Support new starters and help to co-ordinate the preceptorship period. Maintain a high profile within the clinical area acting as a role model positively influencing practice at all times and challenging poor practice. Develop, implement, and deliver competency based clinical education. Work with clinical teams to ensure students are exposed to a wide range of learning opportunities. Further develop own competence and ability to teach a wider range of skills as required to disseminate best practice. Review and update clinical competencies in line with best practice. Respond to educational requirements that emerge from service need. Support the Band 7 Clinical Educator to deliver strategic goals and implement organisational change. Work across organisational and professional boundaries and provide specialist advice and expertise. Policy development.
