Description:
We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our Landside Transport Team at London Heathrow. As a member of the team, you will play a crucial role in coordinating the smooth and efficient movement of goods 24/7 through effective planning, coordination, and management of land-based transport operations, adhering to strict security and safety regulations.
Your main responsibilities on a day to day basis will be:
1. Route Planning to develop optimal transportation routes for moving cargo based on factors such as distance, time, cost, and mode of transport.
2. Carrier Selection to identify and select appropriate carriers or logistics service providers to transport cargo, considering factors such as capacity, reliability, cost, and service level agreements.
3. Load Consolidation to coordinate the consolidation of multiple shipments into full truckloads or container loads to maximize efficiency and minimize transportation costs.
4. Scheduling and Dispatching to plan and schedule transportation movements, including pickup and delivery times.
5. Tracking and Monitoring the progress of shipments in transit using tracking systems or communication with carriers.
6. Documentation and Compliance to ensure all necessary transportation documentation and reports are completed and distributed within the business, verifying compliance with transportation laws and regulations.
7. Cost Analysis and Optimization to identify possible savings and improvements for the department and support their implementation.
8. Customer Communication to build strong, collaborative relationships with customers, delivering consistently high levels of customer satisfaction.
9. Continuous Improvement by identifying opportunities for process improvement and optimization within the transportation function.
10. Ensure up-to-date training on Transport & Airport Transfer is maintained to achieve the key objectives of the role.
11. Operations Procedures ensuring the company operates within all agreed operational procedures and statutory requirements.
12. General administration of all duties that management may reasonably request.
To be successful in this role you will need:
1. Excellent command of the English language in both written and verbal communication.
2. Prior Transport planning and transport operation knowledge and experience.
3. Air and Road Logistics knowledge.
4. Good levels of IT literacy to capture and input information into IT systems.
5. ADR & Hazardous Awareness and Training to Level D (Cargo Op) is advantageous.
6. Full clean Driver’s Licence and Forklift Licence is preferred (training is available).
7. Professionally well presented as this is a front-facing role.
8. Flexibility to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
