We are excited to be able to offer a post for an experienced pharmacist to work with our children and young people's services in Barking and Dagenham.
This post would appeal to those who are ambitious and would like to develop their service development and leadership skills in a supportive environment. The post holder will work closely with the Clinical Lead Nurse and consultant pharmacists in NELFT as part of a multidisciplinary team, addressing the needs of service users.
The post holder will be responsible for managing patients across Barking and Dagenham as part of the Emotional Wellbeing Mental Health Services (EWMHS), 0-19 and neurodevelopmental services to children and young people in the geography.
Successful applicants will be required to ensure safe and effective medicines management processes within the Barking and Dagenham Directorate in addition to other duties specified within their job description. This will include compliance with regulatory medicines management standards, implementation of medicines safety alerts, and provision of specialist expert pharmaceutical information and advice to multidisciplinary teams (e.g., nurses, school nurses, health visitors and consultants) particularly within children and young people services and where applicable to others involved in a patient's care.
Main duties of the job
* Take the senior clinical pharmacist lead role for children and young people services across the Barking and Dagenham integrated care directorate.
* Cover some adult/specialist services, but its focus is on children and young people's services.
* Provide specialist expert pharmaceutical information and advice to multidisciplinary teams (e.g., nurses, school nurses, health visitors and consultants) particularly within children and young people services and where applicable to others involved in a patient's care.
* Lead on and provide complex medicines management advice and specialist direction as well as regular clinical pharmacy input into children respite/residential facilities.
* Focus on outcomes delivering improved benefits and value for patients through improved patient experience, increased patient safety, medication reviews, and mitigating of risks related to medicines.
* Support and contribute to clinical audits.
* Develop and deliver the pharmacy relevant training packages to assist medical, nursing and pharmacy staff across their area.
* Work with quality and patient safety teams to review quality and risk management issues related to pharmacy and medicine management.
About us
Starting with NELFTNELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

This post attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,551 and a maximum payment of £5,735 per annum pro rata).

The post holder must possess excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), have strong clinical and organisational skills and be able to effect change. They need to be able to work independently, be self-driven and highly motivated. The primary role of the post holder will be to progress services for our community services within the Trust, supporting the Chief Pharmacist and Consultant Pharmacists in developing and implementing the Trust Pharmacy and Medicines Optimisation strategy in the children and young people (CYP) specialist area.
The post holder will be expected to have current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council, Clinical Pharmacy and/or Psychiatric Therapeutics (up to diploma level) postgraduate qualification or equivalent experience, and significant post registration experience in a mental health setting.
