The team has also been involved in well documented matters including: Environment Agency enforcement action Appeals of a Statutory Notice Defending corporate manslaughter charges following the collapse of a boiler house at a power station Preferred regulatory skillset though potential for retrain The nature of the work can involve everything from inquests and criminal hearings to advising clients on compliance and regulatory strategy. Clients often instruct the team when the HSE are looking to bring criminal charges for an alleged regulatory breach. Ideally you will already have some exposure to regulatory work and be looking to build on that experience. In particular, the successful applicant will be expected to: Review and analyse prosecution evidence considering implications for client; Review client evidence and provide summary for experienced solicitors including Partners; Liaise with Court and the Coroner's Office as well as CQC, Police and Health and Safety Executive as well as any other relevant regulator; Instruct experts where necessary and summarise expert evidence; Draft written submissions; Liaising with Insured re Prosecution's case and disclosure required; Organising and attending conferences & meetings, drafting note of discussion and following agreed strategy following lead lawyer’s strategy; Attend interviews under caution; Review of medical records, post mortem reports and other relevant evidence including CCTV footage; Investigative research into insured such as analysing corporate structure, their procedures, risk assessment process and any other relevant information; Interest in considering retrain candidates The hiring Partner will also consider candidates from other disciplines who are interested in a retrain into this area of law.
