Are you looking to become part of a strong cohesive nursing team working within the Critical Care environment?
We currently have vacancies within our Specialist Intensive Care Unit at the Churchill Hospital (CICU) and Oxford Critical Care (OCC). We are looking to appoint enthusiastic, motivated and dynamic individuals who will enhance our friendly team and assist with the delivery of high quality care to those using our service.
Role and Responsibilities
As a member of the Critical Care team, the healthcare support worker must be able to prioritise and contribute to the delivery of high standards of care to patients, families, and their carers in a safe and supportive environment under the direction of a registered practitioner. The healthcare support worker will assist in developing and maintaining services provided to patients and contribute to the safe, efficient, and smooth running of the ward/clinical area/department while maintaining the dignity and privacy of all patients and their families and carers, and respecting their right to confidentiality at all times.
Work Environment
An exceptional opportunity to work in a nationally renowned centre for specialties such as Trauma, Vascular surgery, Cancer & Haematology, Maxillofacial surgery, and one of the largest transplant centres in Europe.
A newly built, state of the art critical care building featuring 48 beds across three floors provides a patient-centred holistic model of care and a truly outstanding environment to work in. The clinical areas are bright, airy, and modern, providing our amazing team with the space and facilities needed to look after their health and wellbeing.
Training and Development
If you are currently working outside of the NHS or in secondary care, you will receive training and comprehensive support to get you off to a flying start.
You will be expected to complete the care certificate if you have not already done so or provide evidence of prior achievement. If you have already achieved the care certificate, you will be required to demonstrate that you have achieved and are maintaining the attitudes, behaviours, and knowledge required to care for our patients to a high standard through self-assessment and observations.
In addition, you will be required to complete and maintain any occupationally relevant proficiencies. For critical care, this includes undertaking and completing the ‘National Competency Framework for Health Care Support Workers in Adult Critical Care’ at Supportive Level (Band 2). These competencies will help develop specialist skills and knowledge to support critically unwell patients under the supervision of a registered nurse. Annual appraisals are a requirement with opportunities to review progress with your manager. You will understand your own level of responsibility, scope of practice, and accountability and at all times act within your capabilities.
