Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to deliver customised support, enhancing students' social, communication, and academic abilities. You'll also be involved in preparing lesson materials, facilitating engaging classroom activities, and actively contributing to their overall development. Key Responsibilities of an Autism Specialist Designing Personalised Learning Plans : Work closely with teachers to develop customised learning strategies that cater to the unique needs of each student. Regularly evaluate and adjust these plans to ensure they remain effective and relevant. Providing Targeted Interventions : Offer individual and small group support to help students enhance their social, communication, and academic skills. Implement evidence-based techniques to foster students' development. Promoting Effective Study Habits : Teach and reinforce study techniques that help students engage with their studies. Encourage positive interactions and model appropriate behaviour to create a supportive learning environment. Creating Inclusive Classrooms : Collaborate with classroom teachers to implement strategies that promote a positive and inclusive atmosphere. Assist in addressing learning challenges and nurturing a culture of respect and cooperation. Tracking Student Progress : Maintain detailed records of students' progress and the interventions used. Regularly update teachers, parents, and other relevant parties to ensure a coordinated approach to each student's development. Providing Comprehensive Support : Work with counsellors, social workers, and other professionals to address the broader needs of students and their families, ensuring holistic support. Requirements of Autism Specialist Previous experience as an Autism Specialist or in a similar role. Experience within SEN. A genuine passion for supporting students with autism. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Relevant qualifications or training in autism support are desirable. Why Join Us?
